Per Diem Laboratory Technician (Glendale, CA)

California Clinical Trials, a subsidiary of PAREXEL International, is searching for a Lab Technician who would like to be a part of a great research team.






Essential Function:
The Lab Technician performs all duties related conducting study protocol laboratory procedures for the Early Drug Phase, Phase II-IV, and Sleep Departments.




Key Accountabilities:
Including but not limited to the following and other duties as may be assigned:




• Possesses detailed knowledge of study protocol lab procedures.



• Collects, processes and ships safety labs, pharmacokinetic (PK), pharmacodynamic (PD) samples according to clinical study protocol.



• Takes responsibility for 24-hour urine collection and set-up based on our COGs or protocol.



• Take responsibility for lab set-up and supplies (i.e., racks, logs, dry, ice, shipping supplies).



• QAs tube/container labels before and after specimen collection.



• Schedules lab specimen pickup or transport of safety labs to hospital laboratory.



• Supports the Laboratory Coordinator and Supervisor with day to day protocol processing requirements as assigned.



• Assumes responsibility for accurate documentation (PK Logs, Flowsheets, lab requisitions, labels, etc.).



• Maintains daily upkeep of all lab areas (equipment is stored away, source documents are organized and filed, decontamination of lab work benches, etc.)



• Ensures all medical equipment (i.e., freezers, mechanical pipettes, centrifuges, refrigerators etc.) are functioning properly and have updated maintenance records.



• Maintains organization of contents of freezers/refrigerators at all times.



• Attends protocol specific training as assigned (including any specialized procedures, equipment, or processing).



• Attends regular laboratory staff meetings.



• Performs all other duties as assigned.








Skills:


• Must have strong interpersonal, written/verbal communication and organizational skills.


• Must have knowledge and skill in techniques of good clinical judgment.


• Must have the ability to effectively manage time and the ability to multi-task.


• Must demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age and/or indication of the study participants.






Education:


• BA/BS in Science-related field or equivalent lab experience preferred


• Valid Phlebotomy Certification or a California State License preferred

Language Skills:


• English




Minimum Work Experience:


• 1-2 years of clinical lab bench experience from a clinical or research lab setting


• Valid CPR certification


• Flexible schedule


• Local travel: Valid California Driver’s License and/or reliable transportation


• Ability to lift up to thirty (30) pounds
