DEFINITION:
Under the supervision of the Site Supervisor, the Teacher is responsible for the academic, social and emotional growth and development, as well as the supervision of up to 24 children which ages may include: infant/toddler and preschooler’s. Responsible for the supervision of the Associate Teacher and the Teacher Assistant assigned to the classroom.
QUALIFICATIONS:
These requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and/or abilities required to perform the job successfully.
Education/Experience
• AA degree with 24 semester units in Child Development or Early Childhood Education including core courses (Child/Human Growth and Development, Child, Family and Community, Program/Curriculum).
• Teacher working with infants/toddlers shall have 3 additional units in Infant/Toddler Program
Or
• 60 Units of completed coursework at a four year college or university that would lead to a BA/BS Degree in Child Development or Early Childhood Education or related field.
And
• The individual must posses a current Child Development Teacher’s Permit, plus 2 years teaching experience. Must keep permit valid and updated at all times
• Knowledge in Desired Results, Developmental Appropriate Practices
• Knowledge in Creative Curriculum and Reggio Emilia Approach
• Knowledge of Title 22 and Title 5 regulations
• Knowledge of COA and NAEYC standards.
• Commitment to Accreditation through COA and/or NAEYC
• Current certification in CPR/First Aid
• Must be a team player
• Bilingual (E/S) preferred
Salary: $13.00 hourly, depending on education and experience
Status: Non Exempt / Full-time
