I was supposed to meet my grandmother on my moms side for the first time later this year in Nicaragua. Im 1/2 Mexican & Nicaraguan. she would have been the first grandparent Id ever meet, but I found out last night that she passed away in February. The last of my grandparents and I didnt meet any of them. A bit saddened; but since they were never a part of my life it hasn't effected me much, just a bit bummed that I didnt care about meeting her earlier. One of those things that starts to mean something and becomes important as you get older. So Im still going to meet the rest of my family. Ill be staying with them for 3 days, then Im off for an adventure for 18 days. Where I'll go I have no Idea. I speak and write fluent spanish and should be able to navigate all of Nicaragua fairly easy. Im looking to meet up with someone after the 3 days I spend w/ my family and explore Nicaragua. Id meet you at the airport in Managua and start from there. We'd definately have this trip planned out to the "T". We can meet up for coffee or breakfast and get to know each other and see if we get along. You could usually tell from the first few minutes of conversation if you click with someone! I have a book on Nicaragua, actually a very good and thorough travel book my girlfriend bought me for Xmas. It has everything you would want to know. Things I want to do in Nicaragua are:
Travel to remote towns
Cayak a few rivers
Get certified and dive in the Corn Islands (certification somewhere in the $250)
A lot of hiking (maybe some camping)
Find at least 3 awesome waterfalls and go swimming
Hike 3 Volcanoes: Momotombo, Cerro Negro, and hike down the crater lake of Cosiguina.
note: we can Volcano board down Cerro Negro on the way down!!!
If you're down, maybe hike the ring of fire trail.
Chill in a secluded beach cove (hopefully w/ some beers)
Learn to Surf
and whatever else we think of or comes our way.
Things Im looking for:
An adventurous spirit
someone with at least $2000 to spend for travel expenses, food, lodging, etc.
Not too needy or complains (meaning, some of these towns will be straight out in the jungle and you'll have to go outside and take a shit in a hut)
